A Message From The Owner

What is a Med-Spa, What do we do, And what is Wink?

Many times after telling people that my husband and I own a med spa, I immediately see a glazed look come over their eyes. I can tell they have no idea what that even means or what we even do.
Medical spas, also called medi-spas, med spas, and medical aesthetic spas, are basically a hybrid of a traditional day spa and a medical clinic.

Many years ago, I went to a physician’s office to have a Fotofacial series to correct dark spots on my face. I was swooped into a bright, sterile, cold feeling room where I was wiped down with a cold towel before numbing cream was slapped on my skin. There was no music playing, no smiling faces and no friendly banter. I was just a number. I left thinking, “Wow, I just spent all that money and just felt like I have been hurried in and hurried out with no personal experience. Couldn’t this be done in a nicer setting where I would also get a little “yummy” during my time?”

I knew then that I wanted Wink to be different. I wanted to create a beautiful, relaxing setting in which patients could get the procedures and expertise typically only found at a doctor’s office while also feeling special and pampered like they would at a day spa.

Medical spas are able to offer medical procedures such as medical grade chemical peels and laser skin treatments that correct and bring results rather than just focusing on relaxation like a day spa. At Wink, we strive to integrate a little relaxation into every treatment, such as a head massage or hand massage, because we feel that everyone deserves a little “love”.

Many treatments that we administer, such as Botox injections, Lip injections and other filler injections, require a medical director to assure that medical questions and issues are handled responsibly. Our medical director is also our owner, Gregg Wood MD, and is very present in the operations of Wink, as he is also my husband!

So back to the question of what does a Med-Spa AND Wink do? We offer treatments that help someone maintain the health of their skin while also offering corrective treatments to truly reverse the hands of time. We are basically in the business of helping a patient grow old gracefully. We believe in doing treatments that help YOU look like YOU, not someone else.

There have been many joys of owning Wink over the last 8 ½ years. I’ve watched patients cry in the chair from joy when they see their results. I’ve even had one patient jump up and down the hall from happiness! I’ve also gotten to meet some of the most AMAZING women and men. I’ve heard their stories and every now and then, my words have affected their lives, but most of the time, their stories have taught me the strength of the human spirit. It is an amazing job when it allows you to touch someone’s life both inwardly and outwardly. To see someone’s self esteem grow because of something that you have helped them acquire, well, there is no better feeling in the world!
