About JUVÉDERM® VOLBELLA® XC

JUVÉDERM® VOLBELLA® XC is one of several hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers developed by Allergan Aesthetics and approved by the FDA in 2016. HA fillers are injectable gels used to temporarily address cosmetic concerns by being injected into or beneath the dermis. This filler was specifically developed to address thin or undefined lips as well as perioral wrinkles.

HA is a sugar molecule found in our skin, where it acts as a natural humectant by holding up to 1,000 times its weight in water. The synthetic form of HA in JUVÉDERM® VOLBELLA® XC also binds to water, giving the lips a plump and hydrated look. The product is injected directly into the lips using fine needles. Because the formula contains lidocaine, patients feel only mild discomfort during treatment.

What is unique about JUVÉDERM® VOLBELLA® XC is its diluted formula. It is one of the least thick and viscous of all JUVÉDERM® fillers. This low viscosity makes it ideal for the lip area where the skin is thin because it allows natural movement and feels like your own lips. But despite its softer texture, JUVÉDERM® VOLBELLA® XC is surprisingly durable. You can expect to enjoy your results for up to a year, if not longer.

The Treatment

Every treatment starts with a consultation. This is to check if you are a good candidate for this treatment and to walk you through the procedure.

For JUVÉDERM® VOLBELLA® XC, we use ultra-fine needles. As a result, you will only feel mild pressure as your provider injects the product into your lips. The whole treatment should take approximately 60 minutes.

The Results
