Experience You Can Trust
Restoring a youthful appearance no longer has to involve invasive surgery. These days, patients concerned about skin aging often turn to injectables like RESTYLANE® as a minimally invasive and quick-acting alternative. The RESTYLANE® family of products improves a wide range of cosmetic concerns, from deep wrinkles, skin sagging and aged hands to tear troughs and thinning lips. No matter the product used or concern addressed, the results of this treatment are natural-looking and long-lasting.
RESTYLANE® is a brand of dermal fillers and skin boosters developed by Galderma and approved by the FDA in 2003 for patients over 21. It is the original non-animal stabilized hyaluronic acid filler.
Dermal fillers and skin boosters are prescription injectables used to add volume to the skin or improve its appearance. Skin aging happens for various reasons, one of which is loss of volume due to reduced hyaluronic acid (HA) production. HA is a sugar molecule naturally produced by your body that keeps the skin hydrated and supple. Fillers like RESTYLANE® replace some of this lost HA to make the skin appear plump and hydrated.
Galderma’s RESTYLANE® collection includes several different products, each designed for a specific purpose. Some diminish wrinkles around the nose and mouth, while others restore fullness in the face or hands. All RESTYLANE® products offer natural-looking results, especially when injected by a skilled provider with a good eye for aesthetics.
A typical RESTYLANE® treatment takes less than 30 minutes to complete. Most patients need one or two treatments to achieve maximum results, which become immediately noticeable and peak around two weeks post-treatment. This procedure is nearly painless, and we may even apply a numbing cream before treatment. Some of the RESTYLANE® products have added Lidocaine for patient comfort. Patients enjoy their results from six to 18 months, which depends on the products.
RESTYLANE® works by restoring lost skin volume or adding volume where needed.
The active ingredient responsible for this effect is hyaluronic acid. HA is naturally found in the skin and keeps it moisturized and plump. This unique sugar molecule can bind up to 1,000 times its weight in water, which is why it is so hydrating. Injecting HA beneath or into different layers of the skin helps restore HA lost with aging. Dermal filler injections contain thicker HA gels and are injected right beneath the skin to smooth out the skin or add volume. Skinboosters, on the other hand, contain softer HA gels and are injected directly into the skin to improve skin quality.
To ensure the effects of treatment last as long as possible, the producers of RESTYLANE® utilize two technologies to stabilize HA in gel form. These technologies are NASHA™, which creates a firm gel texture for a pronounced lift, and OBT™(Optimal Balance TechnologyTM), which produces a softer gel texture for smoother and natural-looking results.
The technologies used in these products allow providers to offer a customized treatment plan for your specific goals and needs.
The FDA has approved RESTYLANE® for injection into facial and hand tissues in patients who are 21 years of age and older. The product is used to correct wrinkles and volume loss in the following treatment areas:
Specific concerns RESTYLANE® can address include tear troughs, nasolabial folds, laugh lines, marionette lines, smoker’s lines, jowls and thin lips.
At Wink Medical Aesthetics, we aim to enhance your natural beauty using the best treatments available. That is why we decided to offer several RESTYLANE® products to our patients concerned about skin aging.
The original Restylane® dermal filler is intended for deep wrinkles and folds. More specifically, this filler treats lines that extend from your nose to the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds) and lines that run from the corners of your mouth to your chin (marionette lines). The product can also be used to volumize thin lips and minimize dark circles under the eyes (tear troughs).
Restylane® Refyne is made using XpresHAn Technology™, which allows the HA to integrate deep into the tissue but still move with your expressions. It is intended to diminish moderate to severe nasolabial folds and marionette lines. The product is injected deeper than other fillers to provide visible lifting and tightening while maintaining your natural facial expressions. The unique cross-linking of this HA gel ensures you will still smile, frown and pucker after treatment. With this product, you’ll look like you, only younger.
Another product crafted with XpresHAn Technology™, Restylane® Defyne can also help smooth out nasolabial folds and marionette lines while keeping you looking like you. Defyne is best where more lift and definition are needed since it is a slightly stronger product than Refyne. The product can also be injected into the mid to deep dermis of the chin to enhance chin protrusion. If you are interested in ways to improve your profile, ask your provider about Defyne.
This filler is intended to correct mid-face volume loss and to treat moderate to severe mid-face wrinkles and folds. Another use is cheek augmentation for patients who want a slight cheek lift or fuller cheeks. Restylane® Lyft with Lidocaine is intended for reducing wrinkles and restoring volume in the hands to diminish the appearance of prominent tendons, bones and veins.
This product is designed for patients concerned about losing volume in their cheeks and mid-face due to aging. Also made with XpresHAn Technology™, Restylane® Contour provides a natural-looking lift that does not affect your expressions. The product can also be used to enhance mid-face contours for a more balanced look.
