Experience You Can Trust
One way to slow down your skin’s natural aging process is to start early. Moxi™ — a gentle skin resurfacing laser — is here to help you with just that!
While most people notice major changes in their skin’s firmness, texture and tone in their 40s, these changes have already begun in their 20s. By the time you’re 25, your skin starts to produce less collagen, leading to the first signs of aging. Sun exposure, stress and pollution can speed up this natural process, making our skin prematurely lose its luster.
If you want to have more control of how you age, Moxi™ is a great way to “prejuvenate” your skin. This non-ablative laser corrects early signs of aging and revitalizes the skin. Because it is gentle, there is no downtime with Moxi™, which is why we often call it “the perfect lunchtime facial.”
Moxi™ is a non-ablative fractional laser developed by Sciton. It was designed to offer preventive anti-aging for younger patients. But even older patients who want a gentle “touch-up” can benefit from this treatment.
Non-ablative lasers like Moxi™ offer gentle skin resurfacing. Unlike ablative lasers, these do not cause physical injury to the skin’s entire surface but produce microchannels that penetrate only some parts of the skin. That means it doesn’t result in significant swelling and peeling of the skin like with ablative lasers.
Moxi™ is also a fractional laser. Fractional lasers use narrow columns of light for greater precision. This helps your provider treat only problematic areas while sparing others for maximum results and minimum downtime.
All lasers use highly focused wavelengths of light, which are absorbed by water and pigments in specific areas of the skin. The skin turns this energy into heat, which stimulates skin regeneration.
Moxi™ uses a laser with a wavelength of 1927 nm that can penetrate the top layers of your skin and be absorbed by water. The laser can heat tissue without actually destroying it. This stimulates collagen production while sparing the majority of the epidermis. In comparison, ablative lasers damage the epidermis, causing it to shed and renew.
Because Moxi™ is mild compared to other lasers, it produces more subtle results. For this reason, many clients need to have multiple treatments before they can notice dramatic improvements. A major plus with this treatment, however, is that it requires barely any downtime. Darker skin types also don’t have to worry about it causing uneven pigmentation.

Moxi™ can be delivered at three different levels of intensity:
The lowest level is ideal for preventing skin aging and slightly refreshing the skin. At this level, we use low energy with low density and deliver treatment in about four to five passes. There is virtually no pain or discomfort at this level and no downtime.
Using slightly higher energy with more density allows us to revitalize skin showing early signs of aging. We may also use this level to maintain your results. There may be a little bit of pain, so we use a local numbing agent to keep you comfortable.
To transform skin showing multiple signs of aging and visibly rejuvenate it, we amp the energy further up and use six to eight passes for more noticeable results. Pain is managed with numbing cream, and there may be mild redness post-treatment.
If you would like to treat more than just your face, you’ll be happy to learn that Moxi™ can address common skin issues on most areas of the body, including:
As a prejuvenation treatment, Moxi™ is designed to improve overall skin quality. However, we can also use it to correct specific skin concerns:
At our spa-like setting in Lakeway, TX, we want our patients to feel at home and get the best treatment that will give them their desired outcomes. That starts with an initial consultation with one of our providers.

Moxi™ was designed for everyone, really. It is gentle, with no downtime, and suitable to use on all skin types. However, the ideal candidate is someone between 20 and 50 years of age with mild to moderate signs of aging and sun damage.
Yes! This non-ablative laser is a great option for dark skin tones. Moxi™ takes the lead here since it does not cause much inflammation like some other lasers that can lead to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation in darker skin types.
Many clients notice improvement after one treatment only; however, some may need four to five treatments before they can see significant changes. If you are satisfied with your results, you may want to have one to two yearly touch-up treatments.
There is no downtime after Moxi™. You can get back to your usual routine as soon as you leave our office. Although, you should wear high-SPF sunscreen and keep your skin clean and moisturized.
A typical Moxi™ treatment takes about eight to 12 minutes. Treatment duration can be shorter or longer and depends on the number of passes and density.
